London Bridge vs Tower Bridge

Tower Bridge is London’s defining landmark. It is the most recognised bridge in the United Kingdom. However, many confuse it with its neighbour, London Bridge.

In this post, I’ll try to state clear the difference.

London Bridge

London Bridge is a relatively plain  straightforward Bridge, whose simple purpose is to carry vehicles and pedestrians across the Thames. From London Bridge, it’s about 10 minutes walk to Tower Bridge. You can see from a distance the views of Tower Bridge, while standing on London Bridge. London Bridge and Tower Bridge are actually NEIGHBOURS.

Tower Bridge

Tower Bridge, one of the London’s most famous landmarks, it’s a suspension bridge on River Thames. It has two towers, in Victorian Gothic style.
Base of each tower holds machines that lift two parts of the bridge, so that the  bridge can allow passing of river traffic beneath it. Tower Bridge is located close to the Tower of London from which it got its name.

Views from London Bridge

It’s still unclear why many visitors in London, mix up Tower Bridge and London Bridge.

Certainly, It’s clear one of these bridges has a famous name across the globe, while the other is a stunning symbol of London.
